Iran reports 127 more deaths in single day, toll at 1812

Tehran, Mar 23: Iran on Monday confirmed 127 fresh deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 1812 due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus, a senior official said.
According to Health Ministry official Kianoush Jahanpour, 1,411 new affected cases have been detected since Sunday.
Over 36 million people have been screened with regards to the COVID-19 infection, a report published in IRNA quoted Jahanpour as saying.
Iran is among the worst-hit countries, which are reeling under the wrath of the deadly virus. COVID-19 has so far claimed around 15,000 lives worldwide and infected around 3.5 lakh people globally. However, close to one lakh people have received treatment and are completely cured.

Spain records 462 casualties in just one day

The death toll from COVID-19 showed a relentless rise in Spain as 462 casualties were reported in last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 2,182, local media reported on Monday.

Spain has become the world’s fourth-largest COVID-19 hotspot, as the southeastern European country continues to struggle to summon the resources needed to treat the infected people, in a market, that has failed to supply everyone affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Neighbouring Italy is currently the epicentre of the outbreak in Europe, with more than 5,400 deaths and over 60,000 confirmed cases of the disease.

Worldwide coronavirus or COVID-19, which originated from China’s Wuhan, has infected almost 3,50,000 people in around 50 countries with more than 15,000 deaths.
