Death toll of coronavirus rises to 1,934 in Iran

Tehran: Iran on Tuesday announced 122 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, raising the death toll to 1,934 across the country, official IRNA news agency reported.
Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said 1,762 new cases have been registered in the past 24 hours and a total of 24,811 people confirmed to be infected wth the virus.
Of all the reported cases, 8,913 have recovered, he added.
So far, more than 41 million of the Iranians have been screened for the infectious disease, the Iranian official noted.
On Monday, Jahanpur said the average age of the novel coronavirus patients in Iran is 59 and that of the death cases stands at 64.
Iran is one of the hardest-hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic.
