DDC Shopian reviews BPL/AAY re- verification process

SHOPIAN, MARCH 17:  District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin today convened a meeting of Department of Food Civil Supplies Affairs with regard to re- verification of BPL/AAY at mini Securitate Arhama Shopian.

Among others ADC, DSWO, DPO, Tehsildars, BDOs and other concerned officers were present.

While speaking on the occasion DDC impressed upon the Officers to ensure that benefits of the BPL/AAY scheme are availed by the targeted population and the ration cards issued under this category reach to the concerned people. Pertinently, households having such ration cards are issued 35kg of rice at the rate of Rs. 3 per kg. He emphasised that such ration cards should be issued to the targeted population only. For this purpose it is the responsibility of village committees to finalize the list of AAY in the village. He said the scheme targets the poor and vulnerable sections of the society such as land less labours, marginal farmers & wage earners of the unorganized sections of the economy.

He stressed for AADHAR seeding & data purification drive to make the process a success.
