JUTA raises seniority issue with VC over appointment of Dean Planning, Development

Jammu: The Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) on Monday raised seniority issued with the Vice Chancellor Manoj K Dhar in a letter dashed to him over appointment of Dean Planning and Development.
As per the letter, JUTA President, University of Jammu Neeru Sharma in a letter to the Vice Chancellor has said that as per the previous discussion of JUTA office bearers with him, in reference to the Resolution Number 7 of the JUTA Executive Committee held on Feb 18, 2020, she has expressed resentment over bypassing of seniority of Professors while posting to the positions in the University of Jammu.
”Seniority has been per se agreed to in the various bodies of the University of Jammu,” she said in the letter and quoted the letters addressed to her by the senior faculty over appointment of the Dean Planning and Development.
”JUTA supports the claims of both the Professors because the positions of DAA, DRS and Dean Planning and Development have to be treated as “at par”, as per the University Council Resolutions,” Prof Neeru Sharma said in a letter.
As a matter of principle, she further said that the Posts of DAA and DRS have been shared by the senior most Professors of the University and similar precedent should be followed for the Post of Dean Planning and Development and said, ”the University Council Resolution (appended) is quite clear in the matter and JUTA requests you to restore the dignity of the Council decision in true spirit”.
Meanwhile, as per seniority list in a separate letter, the names were mentioned as under Professor Keshav Sharma (DAA), Professor Rajni Dhingra (Earlier DRS now Registrar), Professor Naresh Padka (DRS), Professor Rajni Kant Verma, Professor Anju Bhasin (Vice Chancellor), Professor Meena Sharma, Professor Neelu Rohmetra (Director IIM), Professor Manoj Dhar (Vice Chancellor), 9. Professor Kedar Nath Sharma (on deputation), Professor Neetu Andotra, Professor G. M. Bhat and Professor R K Ganjoo (Dean Planning and Development).
The sources in the Jammu University added that the seniors in the list were holding prominent positions but those who were nowhere, could have been appointed as Dean Planning and Development, instead of accommodating the blue-eyed.
