Div Com orders suspension of Airport Counter incharge and doctor

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan has taken a strong note of the negligence committed by the counter in charge and doctor as they didn’t screen a Coronavirus traveller at Srinagar Airport.
In a letter vide number PS-Misc/20/3534 dated 13 March 2020, to Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, the Divisional Commissioner has written that: it has been brought to my notice by Director SKIMS, Srinagar that one Dar Ishfaq Maqbool of Hafro, Batapora of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district who is working in Dubai reached Srinagar Airport on 12 March at 9:30 AM and left the Airport premises without being screened as laid mandatory, although he had clear symptoms of Coronavirus and was running fever.”
“Fortunately, he reported to SKIMS, Srinagar, where tests were conducted and again fortunately the tests are negative. However this particular case having symptoms of virus speaks volumes about the careless and inefficient approach of persons along with the doctor of the counter at the Airport who have turned a nelsons eye to this person.”
The letter, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Trust reads furthrt that in this connection you are directed to immediately place the concerned counter in charge doctor under suspension for dereliction of official orders and carelessness in discharge of duties. Besides, initiating termination proceedings as he has ignored the SOP clearly defining the role of Health workers and the in charge Health Officer at the counter.
The Div Com has asked the Directorate of Health Services to follow up action on his directions and reply to his office as immediately as possible. (KNT)
