Nearly 300 passengers offloaded as UK man tests positive of COVID-19

Kochi: As many as 289 passengers of a Dubai-bound flight were offloaded at the airport here on Sunday shortly before takeoff after a UK national among them tested positive for novel Coronavirus, official sources said.

The person from United Kingdom and his team of 19 persons reached Munnar on March 7 for holidays and was kept under quarantine.

The person was quarantined after he showed coronavirus symptoms. He was placed under observation at Tea County resort in Munnar from March10.

The man had tested negative for COVID-19 initially and was directed to leave from isolation only after the second test result.

The authorities shut down the resort, owned by Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

Health Minister K K Shailaja said the man and his wife have been admitted to isolation ward in a hospital whereas others in the team were quarantined at the report.
