Coronovirus Threat: No Large Gatherings Only On Papers As Admin Organizes Several Programmes

Bandipora: Two days after disallowing social/official gatherings in view of health advisories regarding N-COVID-19, district administration Bandipora organized several official functions in the district, throwing its own orders to winds.

The district magistrate Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza on Saturday in an order said that no large social/official gatherings shall be allowed in the district till 31st March amid Coronavirus threat.

“In view of health advisories regarding N-COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure, no large social/gathering shall be allowed in the district till 31st March, 2020,” reads the order issued by DM Bandipora on Saturday.

However, on Monday district administration Banidpora organized a seminar, plantation drive and an awareness rally at Government Girls Higher secondary school Plan Bandipora.

The programme was attended by a large number of students of the school and several officials of the district including ADC Bandipora, Joint director Palnning Bandipora and SDM Srinagar (West) and other officials of the school and the district.

The programme was organized by the district administration in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK).

Sources said that on one hand official leave no stone unturned in issuing orders and on the other hand they themselves fail to implement them.

“The order was issued in view of health advisories amid Coronavirus threat which is appreciable keeping view the consequences of this deadly virus, however, the next day district admin organizes large official gathering that too in a government school. This is sheer callousness on part of the district administration,” they said.

Interestingly, government has also suspended classwork in all primary schools of the four district of Kashmir including Bandipora, keeping in view the threat of N-COVID-19, however, official gatherings are also held in government school despite restrictions.

The official sources said that by issuing such orders they are only creating fear among the people because in reality they fail to implement these order themselves. “The officials have thrown their orders to winds by themselves.”

On Tuesday, department of agriculture Bandipora organized training cum awareness camp in Bonakoot village despite restrictions on carrying out large scale gatherings in the district.

As per the programmes was organized under special assistance to the states for Control of Animal diseases (ASCAD) and chief agriculture officer Bandipora was chief guest on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said that the programmes were organized after his consent and the order has been issued to disallow gatherings at a very large scale only. He also said that the order was issued keeping in view the health advisories so that the public takes precautionary measures at the earliest—(KNO)
