DAK condemns transfer of DAJ president

Srinagar, Mar 08 :Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Sunday condemned the transfer of Dr Balwinder Singh, President Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) to Batote for demanding adequate protective measures like masks and sanitizer to the medical staff.
A statement issued to KNS reads, President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said that this is unfortunate that Dr Balwinder has been transferred to Batote after he demanded masks and sanitizers for hospitals in Jammu region.
“It is doctors and other healthcare providers who are at the forefront in dealing with the Coronavirus threat. Doctors and paramedics can only save the patients in General public only when they are 1st themselves protected from the same,” he said.
Naik said the government should focus on screening of travellers at Airports and Railway stations rather than on political transfers doctors.
DAK said that they are united and ready to deal with any eventuality be like Coronavirus, the statement said.
Dr Owais H Dar, Gen Secretary DAK requested Principals of all Medical Colleges and Chief Medical Officers to provide adequate infection control kits, masks and sanitizers to all doctors and paramedics dealing directly with flu patients. It is also requested to segregate main OPDs from Flu OPDs.
As per DAK, the Darbaar Move Employees Federation,J&K (DMEF) has also criticised government over Dr Balwinder’s transfer calling it acceptable.
DMEF apealed Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu to pass necessary directions for sufficient availability of masks, sanitizers and other essential commodities for all hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir, as demanded by Doctors Association Jammu(DAJ) from the past one week.
“It has been seen that doctors of Jammu division are feeling unsafe and are working without safety precuations as per the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO),” DMEF said.
