Seminar on Urdu language held in GDC Bijbehara

ANANTNAG, MARCH 7: Government Degree College (GDC) Bijbehara organized a day-long seminar on Urdu language in J&K, here today.

The DDC Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Dar was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  Registrar, Cluster University Srinagar, former Director, South Campus KU, Dr. Bashir Nehvi, scholars from across the valley, Professors from various colleges, besides scores of students participated in the Seminar.

On the occasion, the DDC Anantnag said that Urdu language being the identity of J&K and one of the sweetest & civilized languages has a glorious past and is one of the widely spoken languages of the modern world.

 He added efforts are being made for the promotion of this language at various levels. He added that need of the hour is to take concrete steps for the preservation and promotion of this language.

 Principal of the college Professor Nighat Fatima in her inaugural speech said that Urdu Subject is being taught in the college at par with other subjects.

Earlier, a plantation drive was also organized during which the DC Anantnag planted a sapling in presence of DFO Lidder Forest Division and principal of the college.
