5 years on, Kangan bridge awaits construction

Srinagar, March 04:  The inhabitants of Palpora area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district expressed resentment on Wednesday against the authorities for failing to repair the bridge.

As per residents from the past several years, the bridge connecting Palpora with Kangan is in dilapidated condition leaving people to suffer on daily basis.

The bridge is situated over the Nallah Sind and acts as a lifeline for various nearby villages.

Zeeshan Ahmad Mir, a local told that repeated pleas to administration to repair the bride, but things have remained unchanged on ground. He said not only the locals are facing inconvenience but it has become the death trap from the people of adjacent areas.Another resident Hilal Ahmad Rather said district administration had failed to upgrade the infrastructure of the bridge, leaving the residents to face the difficulties. “Before few year Rural Development Department (RDD) has assured that it would be construed but nothing has been done so far,” he said.

As per Rather, Government is spending crores of rupees on development schemes but their area has been neglected over the years.The residents appealed Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu led administration and RDD officials to look into the issue, so that they can sigh of relief.
