Forest official booked for illicit timber seized from his house

Handwara: Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a case against a forest department official after they seized illicit timber from his house. The official, however, managed to flee from his house and is still absconding.

A police official said that after specific inputs, house of a forest employee identified as Reyaz Ahmad Shah, son of Saif-ud-Din Shah was raided.

He said that on seeing the police team approaching his house, he fled from the spot and is still absconding.  He further said that about 26 cft illicit timber was seized from his house.

Confirming the development, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Dr G V Sundeep told—KNO that the official is on run and a case under FIR Number 05/2020 under section 379 IPC, 26 Indian forest act has been registered against the accused
