Residents of Budgam villages aghast over non-availability of drinking water

Srinagar, 18th Feb, : Residents in several villages of central Kashmir district Budgam are suffering due to the lack of clean drinking water supply to their villages, while the pipeline in these villages have been without water supply since its installation, under the district master plan.With drinking water supply suspended for almost fifteen days, residents in various areas of Budgam have been left high and dry by Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, on the pretext of shortage of fuel for water tankers.A delegation of people from Aarth, Syedpora, Wadwan and Gotapora of District Budgam told CNS that the taps in their areas are running dry, while the population of these areas is craving for a single drop of drinking water.They said, “While Public Health Engineering (PHE) department is sleeping over water scarcity in our areas, we are forced to purchase drinking water and those who cannot afford it are using water of dirt streams for drinking purpose.”
