Police Arrest Two Smugglers

Tral:  Police fired warning shots in air after two timber smugglers jumped the police barricade and didn’t stop at a naka here in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that police had inputs that two jungle smugglers are present in a vehicle and are on way to a village to unload illegally smuggled timber.

Policemen signaled them to stop at the naka, but the vehicle jumped the barricade and tried to escape from the spot. The policemen fired some warning shots forcing the smugglers to stop the vehicle.

Police apprehended the two smugglers and seized the vehicle carrying timber.

Police sources identified them as Parvez Ahmed Naik and Ghulam Mohiuddin, both resident of Tral. A formal case against them was registered.
