SRINAGAR: On a credible input Budgam Police arrested five gamblers from a gambling site.
A police party from Police Post Humhama raided a gambling site following an input about gambling activities in Hyderpora area of District Budgam.
Five persons identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Baghe Mehtab Srinagar, Aijaz Ahmad Dar resident of Solina Srinagar, Umar Bhat resident of Hyderpora, Shahnaz Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad Ganai, both residents of Barzulla Srinagar were arrested by police for gambling offences.
Officers have seized playing cards and stake amount of ₹37400/- from the gamblers.
Case FIR No. 48/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
