PHE workers protest in Srinagar, demand release of pending wages

Srinagar, Jul 22: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) department workers on Monday protested in this summer capital, demanding release of their pending wages and regularization of their services.
Scores of PHE workers assembled at Pratap Park, opposite Press Enclave here and held a protest against non-payment of their wages.
Holding placards, which read, ‘Release our earned pending wages’, besides other slogans, the protestors, who were shouting slogans in favour of their demands, urged the authorities to immediately release their pending wages, so that they can cater to the needs of their families.
“We have not been paid from the last many months and it is becoming very difficult for us to make the ends meet. We have several times approached the concerned authorities, but our demands were not fulfilled,” they added.
The agitators said it is the responsibility of the government to release their wages, so that they can fulfill the needs of their families.
They also demanded that their services be regularized.
