Vehicle carrying Yatries seized on Mugal road for defying govt order

Poonch, Jun 30: A vehicle carrying Yatries towards Amarnath was seized by police on Sunday after it defied orders of the district Magistrate Poonch.
Reports said that a Tempo traveller bearing registration no. JK02AW – 8014 carrying 14 Yatries who were on way to Valley through Mugal road was intercepted by police. The vehicle was seized by police and the driver Ashok Kumar of Kot Bhalwal was arrested.
Confirming it, a police officer said that a case under FIR 155/2019 under section 188 RPC has been registered for defying the government order.
On June 29, the administration has decided that no vehicle carrying Amarnath Yatris shall be allowed to ply through Mughal road.
“It has been conveyed by the State Administration that no Yatra vehicle will be allowed to ply through Mughal road (outsider or local),” Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav had confirmed to GNS.
The annual Amarnath yatra is set to begin on Monday (tomorrow) amid tight security arrangements along the twin routes of Baltal and Pahalgam, for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage, officials said.
The 40-day pilgrimage to the cave shrine will commence from both the routes from July 1, they said. (GNS)
