Kargil, Jun 28: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Kargil in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) Patiala and All Kargil Travel Trade Association (AKKTA) organized a colorful cultural programme here at Hotel Chutak Heights.
Around 120 artists including artists from Manipur, Madhya Pardesh, Leh and local artists from Kargil district presented their colorful folk music and dance performances which mesmerized the audience and won thundering rounds of applause.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion, while as Superintendent of Police Dr Vinod Kumar was the guest of honor.
Director NZCC Patiala Dr Saubhagya Vardhan was also present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil while speaking on the occasion hailed the initiative of JKAACL Kargil, NZCC Patiala and AKKTA for organizing this cultural event in the district. He said that such events possess immense potential to promote harmony and brotherhood among different linguistic groups and cultural identities.
While making mention of the National Level Tribal Cultural Festival proposed to be organized by NZCC Patiala in Kargil during the 1st week of August this year, the DC assured the Director NZCC Patiala that the District Administration will extend all possible support for holding of this national level cultural event in the district.
Superintendent of Police Kargil in his address while appreciating the artists for the wonderful rendering of their performances complimented the organizers for putting up this colorful extravaganza. He expressed optimism that the organizers will take similar initiatives so that more of such events are held in the district in the times to come.
Director NZCC Patiala who also spoke on the occasion expressed his indebtedness to the District Administration and JKAACL for their timely support in making the cultural event a success in the district.
The Director said that NZCC Patiala is keen to organize a national level tribal cultural festival in kargil involving the participation of more than 150 artists from different state. He urged DC Kargil to extend necessary support in this regard so that the event becomes successful.
Earlier during the welcome speech Deputy Secretary Culture Kargil Nazir Hussain welcomed the dignitaries, guests, participants and the audience.
Representative of AKKTA Fayaz Ahmad also spoke on the occasion and expressed hope that events of this sort during this time of the year can help a great deal in giving boost to cultural tourism in the district when the flow of tourists is relatively high. Marziya Banoo and Sanjeev Shaad conducted the proceedings of the cultural event while as Special Officer for Cultural Activities Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak delivered the vote of thanks at the end.
Among other who were present on the occasion included officers from the Civil and Police administration, foreign and domestic tourists and a large number of cultural enthusiasts.
