Zulfkar calls on CS, presents memorandum on various issues

Srinagar, Jun 21: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and former Education Minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Friday met Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam at Srinagar and presented memorandum on various issues pertaining to Tribals of Jammu and Kashmir and various issues of his constituency Darhal Budhal.
During the meeting, Zulfkar Ali raised issues of tribal of the State particular reference to Implementation of ST and other traditional forest dwellers act of 2006 in J&K state, National tribal policy, construction of Eklavya Model residential school (EMRS), and SC/ST Atrocities Act.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali demanded establishment of Degree College at Peeri.
According to a statement issued to KNO, he said Peeri is a vast geographical area with population of 59000 souls and about 30 kms from nearest degree the area is having tough terrain mountainous and poor road connectivity, about 10 higher secondary schools adjacent to this place.
The economic condition of people of this area is very poor due to which the parents do not afford to send their ward to far off places for higher education and most of the students particularly female students discontinue their studies after 10+2, he said.
Demanding Tehsil for Budhal, he said that a Tehsil was sanctioned for Rajouri Budhal in 2013-14 but was not made functional.
The other issues which discussed in the meeting include snail’s pace of pace of work on many development projects including Amusement Park Koteranka, Shakarmarg tourism Project, Mini secretariat Darhal, Ujhan Bridge, Macadamisation of Roads in the constituency, shortage of doctors, Ambulances, up gradation of middle and high schools in the area and others.
