Police seize heroin, arrest one person in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jun 21: A drug peddler was arrested and heroin recovered by police during a naka checking in Srinagar on Friday, a police spokesman said this afternoon.
He said during a routine naka checking by a police party headed by Station House Officer (SHO) of police station Nigeen Riyaz Ahmad Khan noticed one person trying to run away in suspicious circumstances. However, after some chase he was overpowered at Ashibagh Nigeen and later during search police recovered 30 grams of heroin from his possession.
The accused identified as Imran Abdullah, son of Mohammad Abdullah, resident of Bastpora, Safapora Ganderbal was arrested.
A case has been registered, he said and appealed to general public to share information related to drug abuse.
