Director Horticulture Kashmir convenes Gram Sabha in Bandipora

Srinagar, Jun 21: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, KAS, Director Horticulture Kashmir Friday convened a Gram Sabha in Khandyal Gurez, Bandipora in connection with holistic programee “BACK TO VILLAGE PROGRAMME” of State Government which is being organized across the State from June 20th to 27th 2019. Director Horticulture after deliberations constituted a social audit committee of local people of Khandyal Gram Panchayat, so as to ensure equitable development of Horticulture across the area.
Director Horticulture read out the letter of Hon’ble Prime Minister to all Sarpanchs and Gram Sabah whereby instructions were passed to energize panchayats, collect feedback on delivery of Government schemes/programmes, capturing specific economic potential and undertake assessment of needs of the villages, besides discussions on water conservation issues were also held.
Further an awareness camp was held with the growers wherein thorough discussions were held and Director Horticulture exhorted the people to avail benefits of various Centrally and State Sponsored Schemes under implementation. Director Horticulture Kashmir also distributed free Horticulture Mini tolls among the beneficiaries. The famers/orchardists lauded the efforts of the Department and requested for organization of more such programmes for the benefit of the farmers.
Director Horticulture also visited various orchards in the area and passed directions to focus on plantation of best quality walnut plants and use scientific management practices so that it will foster the growth of production and productivity in short period of time to meet the growing domestic demand and surplus produce can be exported.
