Damaged in 2014 floods, authorities fail to repair Beerwah Town hall

Budgam, Jun 19: Damaged in 2014 floods, the authorities have miserably failed to repair the town hall in Beerwah area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The town hall was constructed about nine years ago at the cost of about Rs 35 lakhs. The hall consists of a meeting hall and four rooms. The town hall was inaugurated in 2013.
However, the town hall is of no use at present as it got damaged in the 2014 floods following which the authorities have failed to repair it.
Locals said that the shambles condition of twon hall is the failure of former MLA and Executive officer Beerwah
Executive Officer Municipal Committee Beerwah admitted that the town hall has not been repaired so far, adding that no funds have been released for the renovation process so far.
He added that he has written the concerned director for the allocation of funds, adding that “we have been assured that Rs 40 lakhs will be released very soon following the work will be started for town hall’s renovation.” (KNS)
