Bangladesh received another injury scare as wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim left the nets midway through his batting session after he was struck by Mustafizur Rahman in Taunton on Saturday.Rahim is the second top rungetter for Bangladesh in this World Cup, striking at an average that’s close to 50. Taking on the West Indies at Taunton on Monday, June 17, the blow will leave Bangladesh in a bother.
Mushfiqur left the nets immediately after copping the blow, along with team physio Thian Chandramohan. He did not return to the nets afterwards as he was busy icing the injured area in the dressing room.
‘’The injury does not look serious but he will be under observation for 12 hours and later we will decide the next course of action,’’ said a BCB spokesperson.‘’We can tell about its gravity only after the icing is completed because it will help us to assess his condition only after the icing is completed,’’ he said.
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal also had an injury scare during the earlier phase of the tournament when he was struck by a delivery in the nets at Oval ahead of their opening game against South Africa, though he managed to make himself available for all the matches in the ournament so far.Bangladesh would hope that the same results turn out with Mushfiqur.
