Anantnag attack: Injured police officer succumbs

Srinagar, Jun 16: A police officer, who was critically injured in a militant attack in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Wednesday, succumbed at AIIMS in New Delhi on Sunday.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sadar Police Station Arshad Khan was critically injured when militants attacked security force patrolling party at busy KP road in Anantnag on Wednesday. Five CRPF jawans were also killed in the attack.
Official sources said that after battling for his life for five days, Khan succumbed at AIIMS on Sunday evening.
They said that a group of militants in broad daylight, attacked a joint patrolling party of CRPF and police at busy K P Road in Anantnag on Wednesday. “Five CRPF jawans were killed while Khan and a woman were critically injured in the firing,” they said.
They said Khan was immediately taken to SKIMS in Srinagar from where he was referred to AIIMS in a critical condition. “Khan developed complication and succumbed to his injured on Sunday,” they said.
They said arrangements are being made to bring back the body of the slain police officer.
