Train service resumes in south Kashmir after two days

Srinagar, Jun 16: Train service resumed on Sunday after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons in south Kashmir, where two militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) by security forces in an encounter in Pulwama on Friday.
However, train service between Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir was not affected , a railway official said.
He said train service between Budgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund and Banihal in Jammu region was resumed this morning. All trains were running as per scheduled since this morning, he added. Service was resumed after receiving fresh advisory from police last night to resume train runs in south Kashmir, he said.
He said railway department was acting on the advice of police since security and safety of passengers and railway property was important. In the past railway suffered losses worth crores of rupees during demonstrations in the valley.
