Police arrest two drug peddlers in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Jun 16: Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband from them in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.
Official sources on Sunday said that following specific information about presence of militants, a checkpoint was established at Gund in Ganderbal. “Police intercepted a vehicle at the checkpoint, and during checking recovered contraband from them,” they said.
They said two accused, identified as Nazir Ahmad and Mohammad Altaf, onboard the vehicle were immediately taken into custody. “Police has registered a case and initiated investigation to nab other people involved in drug trafficking,” they added.
“Consistent actions by police against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” a police official said.
