Non-functioning of schemes, ruptured pipelines trigger water scarcity in Kupwara

 

Srinagar, Jun 13: The residents of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are up in arms against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) for failing to provide adequate drinking water supply to them.
Inhabitants of various Kupwara villages said that they are not being provided the adequate water supply by the department from last some time.
They said the water supply schemes are not functional while as the pipelines at various places are ruptured, therefore causing water scarcity in the district.
However, they alleged that PHE department doesn’t bother to look into the matter, appealing the authorities to fulfill their demands at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
Chief Engineer PHE, Abdul Wahid said that the work on water supply schemes and renovation of ruptured pipelines is going on for which e-tendering process has already been done.
He added that Rs 200 Crore has already been released for the work, adding that he was supervising the work himself and assured that all the problems will be resolved in coming days. (KNS)
