Two policemen injured in ongoing operation in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, May 31: Two policemen were injured in an encounter at Marwah area of Kishtwar in Jammu division on Friday afternoon.
SSP Kishtwar Shakti Kumar Pathak said that following a specific input about the movement of Anti-National Elements (ANEs), a team of SOG, army and District Police launched searches in Appan area of Marwah on Thursday evening.
“Today while conducting searches, the police team came under fire from the unidentified militants near Faizi Bridge. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter,” SSP said. In the incident, two SPOs namely Mohd Iqbal and Ashiq Hussain sustained bullet injuries and were immediately evacuated to hospital.
Army and Police are searching the area to nab the militants. Additional reinforcement from Kishtwar has reached Marwah, he said.
Meanwhile, reports said that the injured cops were shifted to army’s command hospital in Udhampur for advanced treatment.
When reports last came in the search operation was going on in the area. (GNS)
