DC launches IDCF at Baramulla

Baramulla, May 28: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today launched Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at a function organized by Block Medical Officer Sherri at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri.
The function was attended by CMO, Baramulla, other district officers, ASHA and Anganwadi Workers, civil society members and other prominent sections of the society.
IDCF, which commences today, is a special campaign during which several activities shall be organized so that people are sensitized regarding the causes and consequences of the disease,
Speaking on the occasion, DC complimented the concerned for launching this important campaign and urged upon various stakeholders including public representatives to play a proactive role for the complete eradication of diarrhea. He stressed for dissemination of awareness among masses and urged upon them to preserve water bodies terming contaminated drinking water as the main cause of the disease.
Emphasizing upon the people to maintain their surroundings clean, DC said that the teachers have a greater role as they can educate the students regarding its ill consequences. He also directed the PHE department to ensure clean water tanks and reservoirs so that the potable drinking water is supplied to the people.
Earlier, the DC inaugurated ORS Zinc Corner at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri. The facility shall be used for the storage of essential medicines that are being used for the purpose.
