Black bear captured in B’pora village, shifted to Dachigam

Aloosa, May 27: Wildlife authorities on Sunday evening captured a black bear in Aloosa village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The officials said that after getting information about the presence of a black bear in the area, they rushed to the spot immediately and launched an operation on yesterday evening.
He said a bear was captured alive with the help of locals after being tranquilized and shifted to a wildlife sanctuary Dachigam, adding that the bear will be released in the safe woods.
The incident created the panic in the village as residents moved to the safer places and informed the forest department and police station concerned accordingly.
“There were no injuries to anyone, neither to the animals nor to the humans. The rescue operation was carried smoothly where locals and police also cooperated and supported,” officials said. (KNO)
