People of India decided Modi as PM, I fully respect it: Rahul

New Delhi, May 23: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday conceded defeat and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for winning 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress chief said,”I had said during the campaign that ‘janta maalik hai’ and today people have clearly given their decision. People of India have decided that Narendra Modi will be the PM again and I fully respect it.”
Rahul said that the Lok Sabha elections were a battle of two ideologies and his party will continue to fight the ideological battle with the saffron party.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, he said the Congress Working Committee will meet soon and decide on the way forward.
When asked what went wrong for the Congress, Rahul Gandhi said,”Today is the not the day to discuss what I think went wrong because people of India have clearly decided that Narendra Modi is going to be their Prime Minister and as an Indian I respect that. ”
On losing the bastion of Amethi to BJP’s Smriti Irani, the Congress chief said he accepts the decision of the people.
“Smriti irani has won. Congratulations. People have chosen her. I would request Smriti ji to work with love in Amethi,” said Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi contested the Lok Sabha elections from two seats, Amethi and Wayanad. While in Amethi, Rahul is on the verge of losing, in Wayanad, he has won by a massive margin of 4,28,613 votes. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul had defeated Irani by a margin of 1,07,903 votes.
