Div Com orders enquiry into financial irregularities in MC Anantnag

Srinagar, May 13: Taking cognizance of a story regarding the alleged’ irregularties’ in Muncipal Council Anantnag, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan has ordered a probe into the matter. The Divisional Commissioner has appointed a three member committee headed by Additional District Development Commissioner Anantnag.
“Whereas , the alleged irregularities have reportedly inflicted heavy financial loss to the state Exchequer, Whereas, considering the gravity of the complaint , it has become imperative to get the matter enquired into by the committee of officers. Now therefore, a committee of officers is hereby constituted to enquire into the allegations and furnish the report along with specific findings. Recommendations within 15 days.” reads the order of Divisional Commissioner vide number Div. Com/ Dev/46/2019/1964 dated 13-05-2019, a copy of which lies with a news agency.
Pertinently, a series of stories highlighting the alleged irregularities in the building permission and other financial matters in the MC, though director of the ULB department tried to hide the matters for unknown reasons, the Executive Officer threatened to approach High court if there was any cover up from the directorate. Sources said that even a lobby in the directorate of ULB was trying to manage the transfer of the EO to cover up the mess in the MC prompting EO to issue an open warning by threatening to approach the High court.
Meanwhile in a separate order the Executive Officer MC, Anantnag who had threatened to approach court against the irregularities done by his predecessor Sarfaraz Ahamd and President has cancelled all the supply orders issued by former EO Sarfaraz Ahmad under 14th FC.
“As evident from the record files related to account matters, huge number of supply orders have been issued without application of mind and without caring for the fact that the council is under the financial constraint and the authorities /approvals given in down ladder to competent authority are suffering from serious errors and infirmity of law. Therefore, all such supply orders placed by my predecessor namely Sarfaraz Ahamd Bhat I/C Executive Officer are hereby canceled and no supply should be entertained henceforth as the said supply has not been received so far.” Reads the EO’s order Vide No. MC/Ang/19/3531-35 dated 03/05/2019 , copy of which is in possession of a news agency.
