Farooq, Omar pay tribute to Sheikh Mansoor on his death anniversary

Srinagar, May 10: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah on Friday paid glowing tributes to veteran party leader and former MLA Sheikh Muhammad Mansoor of Shopian on his 29th anniversary. According to a statement, Dr. Farooq while paying tributes to late Sheikh Mansoor said, “The history of National Conference party is replete with sacrifice and struggle. Sheikh Mansoor Sahib was one of the sons of soil who laid down his life serving the people of Shopian in particular and the state in general. On his martyrdom day, I take the opportunity to pay glowing tributes to him.”
Dr Farooq prayed to Almighty for peace to the departed soul and said the deceased’s sacrifices and service for the party and the people of the state shall be remembered for all the times to come.
Omar Abdullah in his message said, “Late Mansoor sahib laid down his life for the principles of truth, courage and peace. On his death anniversary, I offer him my tributes. His contribution towards the development of Shopian is immense which cannot be summarized in few words.”
Among others, party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, additional general secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, State Secretary Sakina Itoo, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Showkat Hussain, Imran Nabi Dar, Sheikh Rafi, and Mohammad Shafi also paid glowing tributes to Late Sheikh Mansoor.
Meanwhile, a commemorative meeting was held at party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar which was presided over by party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar.
Party’s provincial Secretary Showkat Mir and provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also participated in the meeting and paid glowing tributes to late Sheikh Mansoor. (GNS)
