Keep strict watch on pesticide trade: Dir Horticulture

Srinagar, May 8: Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, KAS paid a visit to fruit plant nursery R.P Nowgam, Pulwama. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture officer Pulwama and other field officers.
Director Horticulture was appraised that mother plants and root stock of Cherry, Almond & Apricot have been planted. Chief Horticulture officer Pulwama was instructed to explore the possibility of adequate irrigation facility in the nursery. Further instructions was given to complete the left over works both civil as well as other developmental works in the nursery within shortest possible time. He also directed the nursery staff to work with zeal.
The Director also visited the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer, Pulwama as well as Block Level offices and passed instructions to officers/officials to remain punctual, dedicated & honest in performing the Government duties and maintain a close liaison with growers/orchardists, so that they get the benefits of the schemes under implementation in the District.
Instructions were also given regarding conducting of awareness/ training camps at village/block/tehsil/District levels, so as to impart training to the farmers/orchardists on various horticulture operations and benefits for establishment of the high density orchards. Director Horticulture also issued instructions to Horticulture Development Officers to keep strict watch on pesticide trade and report such traders who are found selling spurious/substandard as per provisions of law.
Director Horticulture also inspected Fruit Plant nursery Tumelhal Pulwama and took stock of the various developmental activities.
Later on, Director Horticulture Kashmir visited various Food processing/CA store projects established by private entrepreneurs at Industrial Estate, Lassipora Pulwama. During the visit, Bhat interacted with the entrepreneurs and fruit growers and ensured them of every possible support from the Department. (KNS)
