IT Dept searches premises of Ansari’s Kin

Srinagar, Apr 25: The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted raids at two properties of a family member of former Jammu and Kashmir minister and Peoples Conference leader Imran Raza Ansari, official sources said.
They said the security forces, including state police, sealed Karan Nagar area in Srinagar on Thursday morning. Later, I-T officials carried out raids at North Point Towers, a commercial complex owned by the kin of Ansari in Karan Nagar.
Similarly, they said raids were also carried out at another property of the family member in Alamgari Bazar area in the old city.
However, I-T department officials said that the raids were carried out on a business family and were not connected to Ansari.
The Peoples Conference leader’s sister is married to the family whose premises were raided.
Ansari, who was a senior leader in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), left Mehboba Mufti led party after the PDP-BJP coalition government collapsed following withdrawal of support by the saffron party last year. Later, Ansari joined Peoples Conference, accusing Mehbooba of nepotism.
