Langate, Apr 10: Badchatri Utingroo village of Langate constituency in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district craving for a bridge since 1947 that would connect them with Qaziabad and Langate has claimed six lives so far but neither any legislator nor any minister has come to the rescue of hapless population for the last two decades.
Narrating the woeful tail the residents said that even today a mother and her daughter drowned in the nallah while walking over a log of wood placed between the two ends of the water body.
Flaying the legislators and ministers of the area for their negligence in constructing a simple bridge that would connect the hapless population with the accessible areas like Qaziabad, Langate, Handwara and Rafiabad, the residents threatened to block all the main roads if the authorities don’t wake up from deep slumber to construct this simple bridge for the convenience of the hapless population. The residents alleged that politicians come to seek votes but not to construct a simple bridge that requires not lakhs but few thousands of rupees. (KNS)
