Pattan, Apr 4: Pattan town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district according to locals is the victim of official apathy as it lacks basic amenities including proper healthcare, portable water, electricity, education, irrigation and road connectivity.
Locals allege that Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has repeatedly ignored their request of installing a digital X-ray machine at the much hyped Trauma Hospital Pattan. They said even the sub-district hospital in the town lacks digital X-ray machine.
“An X-ray digital machines cost Rs 8 lakhs. We raised the issue with Director Health Service Kashmir and even wrote couple of letters to her, but till date she has not taken the matter seriously,” said a local to news agency CNS adding that first construction of this Trauma hospital took authorities 15 long years to complete it and now there are no facilities that irk attendants and patients.
“Due to the non availability of X-Ray facilities in both the hospitals patients are forced to visit private X-Ray labs,” they added.
They said the construction of the hospital is aimed at saving the lives of accident victims on the highway but in reality there are no trauma facilities. “It has been converted into Sub-District Hospital which is unfortunate. The Government has cheated us,” they said.
Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmed Chalko said that hospital will be equipped with latest technology in coming days. He says digital X-Ray machine will be installed within a month in the hospital. (CNS)
