Handing over JKPCC case to Crime Branch a welcome step: Khalid Jehangir

Srinagar, Apr 3: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate for Srinagar constituency, Khalid Jehangir on Wednesday welcomed the steps being made over the scam in Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC).
Notably, the state government on Tuesday decided to hand over investigation into scams in J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to the Crime Branch.
Jehangir said that before he resigned from the post in 2018, he had written to the Governor N N Vohra regarding the corruption in JKPCC, saying that the contractors were being deprived of the work while as those affiliated with a particular political party were being given contracts even as they were not contractors.
“The decision to handover the case to Crime Branch is a welcome step. Those involved in the corruption are closer to the jails,” he said, adding after he wrote to Governor, he was threatened by senior political leaders.
He added that he has no personal rivalry with Naeem but he would have appreciated in case he would have apprised the Governor regarding the corruption in the corporation. (KNS)
