Srinagar, Apr 4: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Thursday demanded release of pending salaries of daily wagers working in different government offices, including Public Health Engineering (PHE), Roads and Buildings, Irrigation and Flood Control.
The EJAC president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam in a statement here this afternoon demanded the release of pending salaries of all the daily wagers and also the modification of SRO 520 as promised by the government.
Shabnam said that timely payment of salaries is a fundamental and basic right of every government employee and the government should ensure that the employees are not deprived of their basic rights.
He expressed regret over the prolong delay in releasing of salaries of the daily wagers of several departments.
He said that the pending salaries is not only affecting employees financially but also psychologically as it has put a direct affect on the career of their children.
Shabnam said that such careless attitude of the government has forced these employees to come out on streets alongwith their children and protest against the government.
He also asked the government to bring out the necessary modification of SRO 520 which was promised to the employees.
He urged the Governor, Chief Secretary and the concerned advisor to address their genuine and legitimate demands without further loss of time.
Earlier today a delegation of EJAC had joined the protest of daily wagers at Pratap Park in which the children of the employees were also participating.
