Fake state subjects

Former minister in the cabinet of the then chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has spilled the beans and blamed her for inaction in fake state subjects case.
Syed Basharat Bukhari, who was the revenue minister, in then Mehbooba Mufti’s cabinet and joined National Conference few months ago, has claimed that he did not sleep over the file and the file disappeared from the door of the then chief minister’s office.
When PDP-BJP were ruling Jammu and Kashmir many fake state subject cases had come to fore following which the government had ordered a probe but the enquiry remained incomplete.
There were reports in the media that some top businessmen from outside states have purchased properties in Jammu region by attaining fake permanent resident certificates and have used their influence to become permanent residents of the state.
One wonders why PDP-BJP government pushed such a serious issue under the carpet and did not act against the people, who acquired these fake PRCs, and the ones who issued these certificates.
Basharat Bukhari has opened a Pandora’s box and there is every possibility about more revelations coming to fore. Bukhari deciding to defend himself means more trouble for Mehbooba Mufti and company. He has made it clear that he never slept over the file and he was made a scapegoat.
After the BJP pulled out from Mehbooba led government in Jammu and Kashmir in June last year many PDP leaders raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership and one after another said goodbye to the party. Mehbooba is grappling with number of issues and the main opposition party National Conference would try its best to highlight the issue of fake PRCs during its election campaign, which has already commenced.
