Resolution of Kashmir issue inevitable for peace in region: Qureshi

Islamabad, Mar 14: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Thursday said that resolution of Kashmir issue in the light of UN resolutions is inevitable for peace and stability in the region.
He was talking to a 14-member delegation of parliamentary leaders of Pakistan administered Kashmir led by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider in Islamabad.
Qureshi said Indian atrocities in Kashmir have gone up after the Pulwama incident, which is condemnable. He stated that denial by India of the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people, as recognized by the numerous United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, continues to keep hostage the peace and security of the nuclearized South Asia.
He regretted that following the Pulwama attack, India has intensified its crackdown against innocent Kashmiris.
He condemned India’s unprovoked shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary (WB).
The Foreign Minister also apprised the Parliamentary leaders on the efforts being undertaken by the Government of Pakistan to highlight the massive atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
