Property worth lakhs of rupees destroyed in Uri fire

Baramulla, Mar 11: Property worth lakhs of rupees has been destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out in a market in border town of Uri in this north Kashmir in the wee hours of Monday, official sources said.
They said fire broke out in a shop at Uri market in the wee hours of Monday. However, before the fire tenders could reach the spot locals joined the fire fighting operation.
Fire tenders were rushed from different areas to control the leaping flames, they said adding fire destroyed about half a dozen shops.
However, there was no report of any injury in the fire, they adding the cause of fire was being ascertained.
Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings.
