DEO Bandipora holds interaction with Political parties

Bandipora, Mar 11: With Model code of conduct in place, District Election Officer Bandipora Shahbaaz Ahmad Mirza Monday held a meeting with the representatives of various national and regional political parties and apprised them about the rules.
The DEO informed the representatives of the political parties about the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged them to follow the rules strictly. He said that all the arrangements have been put in place to ensure free and fair elections and said that different committees have been constituted to check the implementation of MCC and have been briefed about the model code of conduct, their role in monitoring the expenditure, putting up of flags, banners, the size of banners, the time of their installation and removal, the number of vehicles allowed for candidates during the filing of nomination and the number of persons allowed during the nomination etc
He said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a slew of measures for free and fair polls which include Citizen Vigilance (C-Vigil) App, through which any voter can inform ECI, if he or she finds any violation of MCC in the elections in their booth that would enable people to lodge complaints regarding violation of the poll code of conduct.
DEO urged the political parties to follow the rules as mentioned in the rule book so as to ensure the free and fair elections that include restriction on campaign related activities including door-to-door campaign, sms, whats app, calls, usage of loudspeakers etc between 7 pm to 8 am besides avoiding defacement of walls, avoiding paid news and hurting religious sentiments of the people.
Mirza said the District Election office is conducting regular training programs for employees and general public regarding EVM and VVPAT while camps are also being held to create awareness among people about the use of EVMs.
While appealing the political parties to cooperate with the commission to ensure free and fair elections, Mirza asked the people to report to the commission in case of violation of the MCC.
