Delay in Assembly election discriminatory decision: Mankotia

Udhampur, Mar 10: Criticising the decision of Election commission of India to postpone the assembly elections in J&K, Former MLA & NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia said that to maintain democratic setup in the state it is necessary to hold Assembly elections along with Lok Sabha polls but after the decision of ECI to postpone Assembly polls it looks alike that Election Commission is working under some political pressure.
While addressing a public meeting at Neeli-Nallah of Udhampur Constituency, NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia said that even Prime Minister earlier admitted himself to hold Assembly elections along with Lok Sabha polls in J&K.
Mankotia said that on 5th March ECI delegation led by Election Commissioner met with all political parties leaders in Jammu and all political parties of J&K favour to hold Assembly polls along with Lok Sabha elections, but it is unfortunate that central government ignore the general public of the state & it looks alike that central government is not seeing J&K with one eye.
Mankotia said that it is necessary to hold the elections within 6 months after dissolution of Assembly.
Expressing deep anguish over the decision of EC, Mankotia said that decision of EC is totally against the development of the state & against the people of Jammu Kashmir.
He blamed that EC is working under Central Government and the decision to postpone the Assembly polls is totally discriminatory and against the people of J&K.
While giving the reference of current situation of the state Mankotia said that to maintain democratic setup as well as situation it is necessary to hold Assembly elections in the state where as public of Jammu Kashmir also wants early Assembly polls.
