Militant killed in Handwara shootout: Police

Srinagar, Mar 7: An unidentified militant was killed in a brief shootout with the government forces in Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last night, police said.
Quoting an army officer, news agency GNS said that the body of the militant was recovered along with a pistol and some grenades.
The officer said that the army’s 32 RR came under fire while laying siege to Badar Payeen village late Wednesday night following inputs about the presence of militants.  The fire, he said was retaliated, leading to an encounter in which the militant was killed.
