Army commander concludes Kashmir visit

Srinagar, Mar 5: The Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh concluded his two-day visit to Kashmir on Tuesday.
Accompanied by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon, Gen Singh “visited the forward areas in Kupwara and Baramulla, and reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control,” according to an army spokesman.
He was briefed by “commanders on the ground as regards the counter-infiltration grid and operational preparedness of the formations.”
Gen Singh “was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations to meet the prevailing and future challenges,” the spokesman said.
During his interaction with the troops, Gen Singh lauded “their professionalism, sharp vigil along the Line of Control and high morale while exhorting them to remain alert and fully prepared for all eventualities.” (GNS)
