Police arrest two drug peddlers in Sopore

Srinagar, Feb 28: Two persons were arrested on Thursday following action against those involved in drug peddling in Sopore, said police spokesman said.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that two persons were arrested for the drug offences during Naka checking at Batpora Sopore.
“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Sopore police against the drug peddlers,” a police spokesman in a statement said.
“Officers have seized 370 tablets of Proxyvon and 10 bottles of Sycudine from drug peddlers namely Faisal Ahmad Dar son of Tariq Ahmad Dar resident of Mumkak Sopore and Ovais Bashir Shikari son of Bashir Ahmad Shikari resident of Sher Colony Sopore,” he said.
“A case FIR No. 40/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore,” said police spokesman in a statement.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” he said.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said police spokesman in a statement.
