Police arrest drug peddler with 70 kg Charas in Bandipora

Srinagar, Feb 26: Police on Tuesday said one person was arrested following action against those involved in drug peddling in Bandipora,
A police spokesperson in a statement said one person arrested for the drug offences has been taken to Police Station Hajin where he remains in custody.
“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Bandipora police against the drug peddlers,” said the spokesman.
“Officers have seized 70 kilograms of Charas from one drug peddler Ishtiyaq Sadiq Parray son of Late Mohammad Sadiq Parray resident of Kathpora,” he said.
“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Hajin,” he added.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” said police spokesman said.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep your society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said police spokesman in a statement.
