Srinagar, Feb 21: Train service was on Thursday disrupted due to moderate to heavy rain and snow since early this morning in south Kashmir.
However, train service was normal in north Kashmir, a railway official said.
He said trains service was suspended between Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region due to water-logging of railway track at Hiller. “The train run is normal on Budgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund track,” he added.
He said once the weather improves and the track is clear, the service will be restored.
Meanwhile, a large number of passengers, who had reached Banihal railway station in view of closure of Srinagar-Jammu national highway, were disappointed after they were informed that the train service has been suspended.
The train service has become very popular in the valley as it is economical, fast and safe against other mode of transport.
