Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed

Defence Minister Niramala Sitharaman has said that Indian armed forces are ready for the counter attack. “The response of all Indians to the attack in Pulwama has made our armed forces assert they are ready to retaliate against the enemy squarely,” Sitharaman said.
On the other hand Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned that if his country is attacked Pakistan would retaliate. It looks like that something or other is going to happen as the ties between the countries have touched a new low after the Pulwama attack.
India has blamed Pakistan for the attack. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the Government of India to come up with the evidence and he would take action. But India seems in no mood to listen to him and it appears that the battle lines have been drawn.
If the war breaks out it would prove to be a major disaster for both the countries and it would lead to complete devastation. If the world community allows India and Pakistan to go ahead with their plans then one cannot predict what would happen.
One hopes that some sanity prevails and leaders of both the countries at least sit across the table for once and try to settle the differences. If communication channels continue to remain choked it would mean that coming days are not going to be easy either for the people of India or for the people of Pakistan. Denizens of Jammu and Kashmir would be the worst sufferers as they would have to face the maximum brunt of the confrontation. One can only hope that tensions deescalate and both the countries find a middle path rather than opting for the extreme options. But fingers are crossed as the atmosphere is charged.
