Srinagar, Feb 19: Tall claims of Municipal Corporation to improve the cleanliness have fallen flat as the gate of Govt Higher Secondary School Singhpora on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway is turning into dumping site.
According to locals, heaps of garbage are lying unattended in front of the Govt Hr Sec school in Block Singhpora of District Baramulla.
“Heaps of unattended garbage can be spotted at the site and Municipal Corporation has allowed it to become another garbage dumping spot”, said a local resident.
A local resident said that despite repeated requests to the administration, the concerned authorities have not responded so far.
“Even during winters, foul smell is emanating from the site. We avoid venturing this side as dogs in large numbers remain present at the site most of the time,” he said.
“Solid waste including plastic bags, polythene, and vegetable waste can be spotted in front of the gate,” he added.
Another local said that there are no dustbins in the area due to which both vendors and shopkeepers are compelled to dumb garbage in open.
“Authorities have turned a blind eye towards this issue. They do not lift garbage from the place leaving the residents especially students prone to diseases,” he said.
“This is all mess here and I feel pity for the concerned authorities who do not even care despite pedestrians passing through the road daily,” he added.
